Taito Releases The Classic Shoot 'Em Up, RayForce, In The App Store
If you love bullet hell shoot ’em ups (shmups), then you are in for a classic treat. RayForce was originally released in arcades back in the 90s, and was eventually ported to the Sega Saturn. Now, it’s been ported once again, onto your iPhone.
RayForce has retained the original look that you may remember from the arcades, which will definitely add to the nostalgia factor. Unfortunately though, the visuals have not been enhanced to take full advantage of the iPhone hardware, which is a shame. Maybe they were going for the “don’t fix what’s not broken” thing.
Despite not being enhanced for the iPhone, there is some good news – the controls feature two different modes: the original arcade controls and iPhone optimized controls. In addition, there are plenty of options for customizing the control scheme, such as auto and manual shooting, so you can find your play style.
Of course, what’s a game nowadays without Game Center? There is full Game Center support for leaderboards and achievements, so there will be plenty of replay value.
RayForce will cost $11.99 to have on your iPhone. While this may seem expensive to some, it should be considered that the previous versions of this game would cost a lot more, and you wouldn’t be able to have it with you wherever you go.
If you’re wondering if the game is worth the dough, stay tuned! We will have an in-depth review of the game shortly.
Are you excited that RayForce is now available on the iPhone? Do you even remember RayForce? Let us know what you think in the comments!
