The iKliK: A Minimalistic Multi-Angle iPhone Stand

January 20, 2012
I was sent a unique, and simple, iPhone stand to check out, and I wanted to tell you, our readers, what I liked and what I didn’t like about it. This stand is called the iKliK. It is a multi-angle stand for the iPhone, and it is currently nine days away from being funded on Kickstarter. This stand may not look like much, but I do like the simplicity of it. Just snap your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S into the case, in landscape mode, and you’re ready to go hands free. The best thing about the iKliK is that you can view your iPhone using one of many angles. Once it’s securely in the iKliK, just tilt your iPhone forward or backwards. You will hear a tiny click each time, letting you know the phone is now securely in place for that specific viewing angle. The iKliK comes with pads that you can attach to each of the four corners to prevent scratching surfaces and sliding, and they actually work. This stand doesn’t really slide at all, however, if you plan on using it in the car, with GPS on your phone perhaps, that is another story. You could always attach some Velcro™ to the stand and to your dashboard to secure it in place, I suppose. The unfortunate thing about this stand is that it’s only for landscape viewing. Although you can manage to get your phone to stand in it vertically, only when snapping it in on one of the sides, it is not a good fit. It’s really only made for landscape use, and that is pretty disappointing. I would hope they could add something to the product to make it viable in both positions. This iPhone stand is very simple, and limited as far as portrait mode goes, but can be especially useful for watching videos, hands-free photo viewing, or just setting it on your desk while at work or your nightstand while using an alarm clock app.

If you can’t see the above video, please click here to watch it. To stay updated, you can visit the iKliK Facebook page or go to Kickstarter. If you’re backing the Kickstarter campaign, these multi-angle stands will cost you about $7 each.
