The National Rifle Association Releases NRA App

January 2, 2012
The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) has recently released the NRA app for the iPhone. The layout of the app is basic, but it's packed with information, including news, videos, voter registration info, social media updates and a lot more. You can even find locations near you for seminars, shows, and basic firearms training.

While not everyone agrees with the NRA's positions, it is a large and influential group. To that effect, the release of an NRA app is notable. From a pure app standpoint, there is nothing notable about the app's design. It is neither sleek, nor beautiful. It will not push the boundaries of app technology. However, as mentioned, it is chock full of content.

In some senses, the app's spartan design may even be considered an advantage. In many ways, it is easier to explore than the NRA website (especially the Flash version), which is cluttered and confusing. The NRA app's layout may not be a visual treat, but it is also not a big pain to navigate. Those who wish to learn more about the NRA's activities and ideals should get this app.

The NRA app is available in the App Store now - free of charge.
