Cheezia: Gears Of Fur Rolls Onto iOS

The App Store contains many games with very imaginative lead characters, such as Barry Steakfries from Jetpack Joyride or Om Nom from Cut The Rope. Something the App Store still lacks, however, is its own iconic figurehead such as Nintendo's Mario or Sega's Sonic. Nordic Solutions Systems is looking to change this however. The developer has just released their new title, Cheezia: Gears of Fur (FREE). This is the second title from the company to feature Manu the Mouse, and he certainly looks like a contender for "iOS's Mario" to me. Cheezia: Gears of Fur is a physics based platformer in the spirit of Mario or Sonic. Your mission is to help Manu save the secret cheese recipes from the hands of Evil Kiwinel. Yes, that's right, the developers clearly love a good pun. Along with the usual platformer fare of jumping, climbing and collecting power-ups, Cheezia: Gears of Fur features:

• The first six levels for free!
• Platforming action with easy and precise controls
• Physics engine brings realism and excitement to gameplay
• Universal App that runs in iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
• HD graphics and Retina Display support
• Game Center leaderboards

As you can see above, the game is free, but this only provides you with the first six levels. The remaining areas have to be unlocked via an in-app purchase (IAP) costing $1.99. While I'm not a big fan of IAPs, it does work quite well in this instance. You will get a good sense of the game over the first six levels, and can then decide if its worth your hard earned money. Do you think Manu and Cheezia: Gears of Fur has what it takes to become "iOS's Mario?" I don't think we'll ever see another character quite as iconic as Mario or Sonic, but Manu is certainly a welcome addition to the App Store's growing legion of great characters.
