Do You Know Your Shorts?
Know Your Shorts (Free) by Brethren Entertainment Studios tests your knowledge of short films. You can play either a memory game or trivia questions. Can you earn the coveted golden shorts in order to attend the movie awards show?
The trivia game will ask a question with four choices to select an answer from. Selecting an incorrect answer won't lose you the question (you don't get off that easily). Keep selecting answers until you choose the correct one.
The more guesses you take, the less points you'll earn.
The memory game will move through a list of 20 pictures from different films. Once the images have finished, you will be shown an image and have to select either yes it was in the list or no it wasn't.
A short piece of trivia will show when a question is answered. What's nice about this is that you learn something about the film attached to the picture, whether you answered it correctly or not.
My main complaint about this app is the lack of a reward system. For instance, in the trivia mode, you'll finish the game with a congratulations, despite how many points you actually scored.
The amount of points scored dictates which kind of shorts your character wears, though one pair isn't necessarily better than the other. With no score keeping, it is all really arbitrary. Obviously, this is not good for a game.
The memory mode is at least a little more palatable, since you only get one guess at the displayed picture being part of the selection shown or not.
For a universal game on the iPad, the graphics are terrible. And I don't mean just bad, I mean extremely terrible. I've played plenty of iPhone games magnified on my iPad with better graphics than this.
For those looking to try their knowledge of short films, you'll probably get a kick out of this app. Those not looking to test their knowledge of short films aren't missing anything.
