Name That Movie™ ($0.99) by Prestige Entertainment Group LLC. is a challenging movie trivia game. How well do you know your movies?
Test yourself with thousands of questions set up in several different kinds of mini-games. The object is to name that movie, of course. Play the “Grid” game, which asks a question like, “Which three of the following movies are based on Shakespeare plays?” and you’re given nine possible answers from which to choose. Or, play “Hangman,” which is just what you’d think, with a clue like “Christian Slater co-starred with Sean Connery” and a time limit of about 90 seconds to start.
Try “Matches,” where you match the words from the left column to the right, with a clue at the top such as “Match the characters to the corresponding Clint Eastwood movie.” Or try “Clips,” where a 90 second clip of the movie is shown, and you choose the name of the movie from four options. “Clue” gives you up to three clues about the film over about a minute and a half and you must type in the name of the movie before running out of time.
As you progress in the game, you can actually “bid” on time, up to 30 seconds, based upon the hint you’re given. The less time you give yourself, the bigger the point multiplier. For example, given the clue “One of the most famous scenes is Elliot’s bike flying across the sky,” I knew I only needed a few seconds on the clock.
There are bonus points and ranks and Game Center achievements to enhance the fun. Share your scores with your social networks. This fast-paced game is incredibly beautiful to look at as well. Another cool feature is that once you guess the movie, there is a “Buy/Rent” button which takes you directly to iTunes so you can purchase or rent that film if you like. Overall, this is a challenging and fun game that any true fan of film will enjoy.
