Go On A Treasure Hunt With TapGeoHunt
February 23, 2012
Everyone loves a good treasure hunt right? If you are on the lookout for a way to relive the good times of your youth, look no further than TapGeoHunt (FREE) from App Institute.
According to the developer, TapGeoHunt is a "location based multiplayer hunt game." The main unique selling point of TapGeoHunt, however, is the use of augmented reality.
First, the organizer of the hunt has to setup a game by dropping as many pins as they like onto a map. Each team, or individual, then must get within approximately 10 yards of each "hunt point" to be able to tap the augmented reality object, earn points and reveal the next location.
While TapGeoHunt is a free title, there's an in-app purchase option to buy the four themes available. The themes consist of pirates, zombies, ghosts, and cops and robbers. The themes provide you with the augmented reality items that need to be hunted for.
TapGeoHunt is a fantastic idea for parents that want to setup a simple, and controlled, game for their children. Providing, of course, that you are happy with your children running around with your iPhone!
App Institute also hopes TapGeoHunt will appeal to organizations during team building days or similar activities. With the ability to record videos to be played at each location, I can fully see this happening. I can't, however, see myself running around London chasing ghosts, but that's just me!
A video of TapGeoHunt in action can be found on App Institute's site should you like to learn more.
Could you see your business employing something like this? I'm not so sure myself, but I think this is a wonderful idea for parents. I'd love to hear about other ways some of you may be getting use out of TapGeoHunt. Happy hunting!
