Heroki Is Preparing To Take Flight

February 15, 2012
You may not have heard of Picomy Games, but if the screenshots released yesterday are anything to go by, it's a name you will likely hear a lot about in 2012. Picomy Games is "a fresh, new indie game development company with lots of experience and a big affection for games." The company, formed in 2011, are well underway with the creation of their debut title, Heroki. The company released a teaser trailer of Heroki in December 2011, and it caused a bit of a stir on the Web. While the specifics of the game are not obvious from this video it's clear that, graphically at least, the game is a thing of beauty:   Yesterday Picomy Games released new screenshots of Heroki on their website, along with a bit more information on what we can expect from the game. Picomy said:
Officialy, Heroki is a platformer that is a story based action - adventure game but different from regular run and jump type of platformers, many people are already familiar with. The core of the game lies on the flying aspect, giving the player much more freedom then regular platformers. Sure, Heroki can also walk/run but he’s at his finest in the air where he can perform lots of different abilities providing a unique experience that is ideal for a touchscreen.
Picomy hopes to achieve their rather ambitious sounding goals by utilizing a system they call "Flow Motion Control." While no solid details are available on what this interestingly titled control system is, Picomy stated that it will help the player control Heroki without the use of virtual buttons thus keeping UI clutter to a minimum. This sounds like an intriguing system and I'm curious to see how this develops over time. Heroki looks set to be far more than a standard platformer. The developer has stated that the player will have the option to return to their home village at any point in the game to "interact with the many citizens of Levantia and play many sidequests." The game bears a slight visual resemblance to recently released Paper Monsters, but if the features promised come to fruition, Heroki looks set to be something very special and unique. I for one will be following its development closely.
