Matchbook Updated With A Deal You Cannot Refuse
February 14, 2012
Matchbook by Jason Schwartz (free) is a simple yet elegant app designed to keep track of your favourite restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. It's the digital equivalent of taking a matchbook from a restaurant.
Matchbook achieves this by either prompting the user to enter the details of a venue manually or by tapping the "I'm walking by it" button. By clicking this, Matchbook will conveniently search Foursquare, using its API, to locate nearby establishments.
Matchbook has been out for a while now, but it has recently received an interesting update. Matchbook, with the introduction of version 1.6, has introduced a deals integration feature. The introduction of this feature increases Matchbook's usefulness exponentially.
Matchbook can now use your selections to bring you personalized deals. The app collects the offers and deals from aggregators like Groupon and LivingSocial and presents them to you within the app.
Getting these offers through Matchbook ensures that you receive only relevant offers thus avoiding the email clutter and the daily deal overload which, as a Groupon user, makes Matchbook worth a download alone.
Did I mention that Matchbook's icon is also a thing of beauty? I've been known to purchase an app because of its icon alone and this one may just make it into my top 10 list. Have any of you given Matchbook a try?
It's Valentine's Day so why not give it a try when you wine and dine your significant other, you may just save yourself a few pennies.
