NIKE Announces Next Generation Of Nike+ Products

February 22, 2012
NIKE, Inc. today unveiled its new Nike+ Basketball and Nike+ Training products. First unveiled for running products in 2006, Nike+ combines footwear with interactive mobile apps such as those available in the App Store such as Nike+ GPS and Nike+ FuelBand. The new Nike+ Basketball experience measures how high, how hard and how quick players play each game using the “Track My Game” mode. In “Showcase’ mode, players are able to record dunks and superimpose their live data on a video, which can then be shared with friends via Facebook or Twitter. According to LeBron James:
"I think Nike+ Basketball will change the game. Giving every player access to this level of information will have a huge impact on the way players train and play the game."
Nike+ Training, meanwhile, turns a workout into a game. Featuring workouts from Rafa Nadal, Manny Pacquiao, Allyson Felix and Hope Solo, the experience makes professional-level training available for the masses. The programs include a series of short, sharp workouts, designed to help users get in better shape. Both Nike+ Basketball and Nike+ Training use a new pressure sensor integrated into the shoes themselves. The first NIKE+ enabled Basketball shoe will be the Nike Hyperdunk+, which will be worn by LeBron James this summer. The first NIKE+ enabled Training shoes will be the Lunar Hyperworkout+ for Women and the Lunar TR 1+ for men. Both designs will be available on June 29 in the US, China, France, Germany and the UK. Prices have yet to be announced. The Nike+ GPS ($1.99) and Nike+ FuelBand (free) apps for the iPhone/iPod touch are available now in the App Store.
