PhotoCalbum, the BEST Photo Calendar, Photo Journal, and Photo Album app for automatically organizing your photos and videos by date ($0.99) by EmBraze is a photography app that mixes a calendar with a photo album to let you create a visual journal. Take pictures every day and have a whole month’s worth of pictures to display as a daily reminder of what February was like.

Users can import images from their device’s camera roll into the app and it will automatically place the photos into the appropriate date on the calendar. It will also display the time that the pictures were taken.

Additionally, multiple shots can be combined in one album. For example, if you went on vacation and only took one picture on the first day, but a bunch on the second because of an event, you can add all images from the event into one album. Each album can be named. For example, a recent trip to Disneyland could have an album entitled, “Meeting Mickey” and another one called, “ Disneyland Food.”

Calendars can be shared with others through Facebook and Twitter or emailed directly to friends and family. This feature is lacking because it just sends a snapshot of the month. Receivers of the calendar can’t see individual albums, only one image that shows a grid with the all of the pictures on it.

The app is simple to use. Images can be quickly grabbed from the device’s camera roll and the calendar populates the photos automatically, so there is very little work that needs to be done to create a visual journal.

PhotoCalbum is very rough around the edges. It crashes and freezes often. The swiping feature rarely works. The developers have a lot of bugs to work out. However, it's simple to use and a quick shut down and restart of the app usually fixes the bugs.

Although this app needs some bug fixes, it is so easy to use that it is worth the minor inconvenience. The ease with which the images are imported and placed on the calendar makes it a great photo journal app. It is reasonably priced at only $0.99. Pick it up in the App Store today.
