Three Games Found In One With Match Fighter: PokerBattle
Match Fighter : PokerBattle (Free) by D&Tech7, Inc. creates a combo of three games in one. Part poker, part Bejeweled, part RPG, you might wonder how so many different genres can fit together. Surprisingly, they do it quite well.
You do battle against your opponent by matching gems. Not only will you damage the opponent, but you'll also add that gem as a card in your hand. Throw in some bonuses, (such as power rings and amulets), the ability to level up, and you have an RPG.
The Bejeweled aspect of it differs from the actual game because you're not in a race against time. In fact, it's just the opposite. Examining the board for potential matches is key.
First, you want to consider what you already have in your hand, and if any matches can get you a playable hand. Second, getting multiple matches is also good for dealing damage to your opponent.
I have to admit that the RPG element was the hardest for me to understand. You start with these different items, though I had no idea how they worked or when to use them. I just knew I could select one of them during my turn and something happened.
The game was quite buggy. I had to restart my iPad after downloading, which worked fine, but I still had trouble even after that. I noticed that it seemed to crash while looking at the help screen or when trying to use your points to level up your stats.
Every time I started, the Game Center portion at the top said it couldn't connect. A couple of seconds later, your Game Center account will pull up, getting rid of the error message. Hopefully a future update will make the game more stable.
Upgrading to the paid version gets you two more modes of play, survival and deathmatch. Coins are also easier to come by, and buying items is 20 percent cheaper. I’d give the free version a look before considering if you want to take that next step.
This is a really neat idea for what is essentially an RPG. The combination of games works well, providing a unique take on each of them.
