Become A Bug-Chewing Flower-Swinging Chameleon In Munch Time
Munch Time ($0.99) by Gamistry is a casual, family-friendly puzzle game where you play as Munch the chameleon, swinging from flower to flower gathering up stars and tasty grubs. Gameplay wise, this is a lot like Cut the Rope without the cutting.
The goal in the game is to move from flower to flower using Munch’s super powerful, sticky tongue to latch on and swing back and forth. As you traverse the level, you will need to grab the three stars for maximum score, and then eat the yummy bug to end the level.
Grabbing flowers is as simple as tapping on them, and walking forward is managed in the same way. Just tap on the ground and Munch will waddle along.
Flowers come in all different colors and varieties, and in order to latch on to some, Munch will need to change colors. He will need to eat colored flies to do so. For example, he needs to gobble up the blue fly to turn blue so that he can swing from blue flowers, the red fly to turn red for the red flowers, and so on.
Munch can only latch on to most flowers one time before the petals fall off and they become unusable. For this reason, it’s important to plan your moves well in advance. Luckily, if you do make a wrong move, there’s a quick restart button that takes you right back to the beginning of the level.
Early on in the game, you’ll be dealing with typical daisies, that have no special attributes. As the game progresses, new flower types are introduced. Pink flowers will spin endlessly, while darker blue flowers act as cannons. Munch can glide by latching onto a floating dandelion, or fly by latching onto a flying flower.
In addition to figuring out how best use the flowers to gather stars, you will also need to avoid obstacles, like gaps, ledges, and spiky plants that will send Munch flying into the abyss.
Munch Time has a great combination of puzzles, and will keep you entertained for hours. Thanks to an easy restart button and a penalty-less level skipping option, Munch Time is never frustrating (if anything, the game ranges on the overly easy side) and is perfect for players of all ages. There are more than 40 levels, two different themes, and Game Center integration, making this casual game well worth the cost.
Also, did I mention how cute the game is? How can you resist that sweet little chameleon face and adorable sticky tongue? You can give Munch Time a try with the free version first if you’re undecided about shelling out the full purchase price.
