Help King Bee Bust Bugs In Sticky Bees
Sticky Bees ($0.99) by Fourfire Studios has you bashing bugs with bees to bopping background beats.
The story is simple enough: In a world where the Hummingbird King has waged war upon the bee kingdom, one bee rises to the challenge of becoming a hero. That bee becomes King Bee (I know, why isn’t it the queen?).
But he can’t do it alone. He enlists the aid of his fellow "sticky bees" to help squash the bugs.
Guide King Bee by dragging your finger wherever you want him to go. Hordes of insects will appear from every side of the screen, but the King Bee can easily squash them.
Other sticky bees will buzz by, and you can collect them to form a chain. Soon enough, it starts looking like the classic arcade game "Snake."
The plus side is that each sticky bee acts as a multiplier for your score. However, the bees are susceptible to the bugs. Once King Bee loses all of his companions, he starts losing pollen. Bye bye pollen means bye bye King Bee.
The music is without question the best part about this game. A note sounds each time you beat a bug. Add that to the looping background music and you make the game’s soundtrack. Playing without the sound is not recommended.
In-app purchases are available, including bonuses and level unlocks (for those who just need to skip ahead). Game Center support is also included.
A bug (pun slightly intended) with the game is that sometimes the King Bee is unresponsive. I quite often found that my finger would be on one end of the screen and King Bee on the other.
Overall, the gameplay is fun. I’m tempted to say that this app would be for more of a younger audience. But that’s not to say that the bigger kids can’t try to complete some of the more ambitious mission goals (such as not losing any sticky bees).
