Tank: A Reliable And Accurate Gas Finder For iPhones
Tank - A Snazzy Little Gas Finder (Free) by App.Solutely, LLC is a handy utility and travel app that helps users find nearby gas stations with the lowest prices. Unlike many previous gas apps, Tank does not rely on user submitted information. Instead, Tank is sent updated gas prices by a national oil price indexing service every time a purchase is made, guaranteeing the most up-to-date gas prices. This service currently includes over 95 percent of the gas stations in the United States.
In addition to the quality and speed of information, the Tank app has a sleek and intuitive user interface. It is so simple that no instructions or setup is needed. Just open the app, choose a location, and find the most inexpensive gas prices around.
Tank also allows for specific gas searches based on grade of gas (regular, mid-grade, premium and diesel). Users can change these preferences through the dashboard which is accessed by tapping the icon in the top right corner of the screen.
There are three ways to find gas stations, by: current location, zip code, or by trip. Once users submit their search, nearby stations will be listed in order of lowest price to highest price. The app lists the price, name of station, and distance from the user's location. Tapping on the station will bring up three tabs. The first will display the station's address and options to get directions or add the station to favorites. The prices tab will show that station's prices for all grades of gas. Finally, the features tab will show any additional features the station has to offer. These range from ATMs to convenience stores.
Users can also search for gas stations through the map view. The search process is the same, but instead of viewing stations as a list, users tap on the map view tab to see stations near their location. The prices at each station can be displayed by tapping on the red icon that marks each station.
The final feature is the Trip feature, accessed through the dashboard. This allows users to plug in starting and ending locations to view gas stations along the way. Trips are automatically saved in My Trips for future reference.
There are two versions of Tank available in the App Store, the free version and Tank Pro. For this review I tested the free version. The free version is supposed to have ads, but I had none. I was also able to access the Trip feature, which is supposedly a paid-only feature. According to the developer description of the paid version, I see no differences between the two versions.
Overall, Tank is an extremely useful and sleek app for iPhone users. I was very impressed with the ease of use, the appealing interface, and quality of results. Be sure to look for Tank - A Snazzy Little Gas Finder in the App Store.
