The Mechs Are Back In Town In Robokill 2

February 7, 2012

Robokill 2: Leviathan Five ($0.99) by Wandake puts you back in the driver’s seat of a mech in this sequel to Robokill. Leviathan Five, a mining facility on Mars, has been overrun by hostiles and it's your task to clean them out. This time, instead of fighting hordes of robots, you’re up against hordes of reptilian creatures.

With 36 missions containing over 600 alien-infested rooms, you’re bound to quench your bloodlust. Luckily you have unlimited ammunition to help get the job done. As you gain more money you can upgrade your mech to make it an even better killing machine. Of course, in-app purchases are always available if you want to upgrade faster.

This game uses dual stick controls. I'm not a fan of this type of control (I guess I’m not that coordinated), but this game’s controls are very fluid and responsive. I almost wonder if the mech’s movement is too smooth. You’d expect a heavy, two-legged machine to have a ponderous stride, but not so in this case.

You'll definitely need to take advantage of this fluid movement while navigating the rooms within Leviathan Five. It's pretty common for the rooms not to have guardrails near some of the ledges. Falling down results in going back to the beginning and having the aliens re-infest the rooms you so diligently cleaned out.

This game isn’t a radical enhancement of the first game. Even from the get-go, both of the beginning cut scenes are nearly identical. You could basically stitch the two games together and have a seamless experience.

But if you enjoyed the first game and are looking for more action, you couldn’t go wrong getting this game. Those who have never played before and are shoot 'em up fans will enjoy it as well.
