The Origami Stroller: It Charges Your iPhone And Much More

February 13, 2012
Any parent knows that strollers are a necessary evil for child rearing. We had our share of the best models available with our girls but all pale compared to the New Origami Stroller by 4Moms Inc. One of the many options for the Origami is the Handle Bar Bag and Cell Phone Charger.  How does it charge? It has a small battery-powered motor in the rear wheel gears. A built-in generator recharges the stroller’s battery as you push it. But the generators do more than just charge your iPhone or iPod. (they sold me on that alone). The Origami takes the worst part of using a stroller, unfolding and folding, and makes it automatic with just the touch of a button. It also has a built in sensor which prevents the stroller from folding if a child is seated inside. Evidently, 4Moms understands the ever present temptation for an older sibling to press buttons. Most stroller manufacturers seem to think that frills mean adding a cup holder and storage pocket. The Origami has them beat with four cup holders, ample storage options and LED lights for night time strolls. The manufacturer, 4Moms, was founded by friends Jenn, Kristen, Cindy, Elizabeth, and Erin who live in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. We applaud their determination to build the ultimate stroller and wish they would apply the same technology to a rolling shopping cart or backpack for iDevice addicts with older kids. The Origami is available on the 4Moms website and retails for $849. The optional Handlebar Bag and Cell Phone Charger runs $39. What do you think of the Origami? Would you be tempted to buy it? What do you think would make it even better? Tell us in the comments.
