We’ve Got Promo Codes For TWIG Touch Dictionary For iPad
February 19, 2012
Here is one of those “wow” apps. It looks extremely cool and it’s fun to show off to your friends, especially if you’re all a bunch of word aficionados.
TWIG Touch Dictionary, created in association with Oxford University Press, is like no dictionary you’ve ever seen before. First, be aware, it’s a pretty large app at 870 MB. It took me a long time to download, more than half an hour over Wi-Fi, and I had to delete another app from my iPad to make room for it. But assuming you’re not concerned about the time and the space, it is a rather neat app.
The app was created for people whose minds may work a little bit differently, who love words, and for whom an ordinary dictionary just won’t cut it. TWIG Touch Dictionary encourages touching and exploring. Start typing a word, and possibilities start showing on the screen. Tap the word you want and instead of a paragraph, a tree with moving nodes will appear. You have options to tap the pronunciation (in a British or American accent), word origin, or syntax for more details. Tap the definition for a more detailed definition, along with a whole host of synonyms, as you can see in my screenshots. So, it’s really a thesaurus as well.
So, is this app worth its hefty $35 price tag? Personally, though I find this app to be plenty charming, I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on a dictionary app, but perhaps that’s just me. Luckily for you, well, five of you at any rate, we’ve teamed with the developer to offer five promo codes to our readers! For your chance to win, just comment below and tell me why you would like to have such an extravagant dictionary app. Be sure that you’ve registered with a valid email address, so we can contact you if you win. And remember, this app is for iPad only. Winners will be selected by Tuesday, Feb. 21, 10:00 a.m. EST. Good luck!
