Operation App-It-Tight
Are you guys ready to have a healthier lifestyle? With the use of your iDevice it couldn't be easier. Today we are starting the first in a mini-series we're calling Operation App-It-Tight. The name is a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions please tweet at Robin:
@robinrhys.
The first step in using your iDevice to help you have a healthier lifestyle is awareness. That's why today we are featuring three apps to help you become aware of what you eat.
Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal: Free
The first app we recommend is
Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal. This free app has both iPhone and iPad versions, plus access on the web. It's a traditional calorie counter. We know everyone hates to count calories, but it's an important part of becoming aware of what you eat. It's simple math, if you consume less calories, you lose weight. MyFitnessPal has a huge database of foods, as well as a Barcode Scanning feature, so tracking couldn't be easier. All you have to do to start is enter your weight, height, and goal weight. It will also ask you how active your job is, and how much you plan to workout. Even if you don't workout much, MyFitnessPal will motivate you, since the more you workout, the more calories you can consume, therefore more chances for you to eat the things you love. There are even reminders, and Diary sharing. But, we don't want to give everything away here. Watch the show to find out more.
The Eatery: Free
Like we said before, the way to a healthy lifestyle is awareness!
The Eatery takes awareness to the next level. You snap pictures of your food, and other people rate it - telling you how healthy or unhealthy they think it is. After using the app, you may find that you will start eating healthier just because you know your selections will be judged. And for some, The Eatery will help give a much needed reality check. The Eatery makes trying to be healthy a fun challenge, and that's the goal.
Weightbot: $1.99
The last app in the first of our App-It-Tight series is
Weightbot. It's not a calorie tracker in fact all is does is track your weight, but it's one that you will use all along your healthy lifestyle journey. It has a gorgeous interface, which I guess makes up for the price.
