Beware: Age Of Empires - Command to Conquer Isn't The Age Of Empires You May Think

March 5, 2012
Thetis Consulting has just launched Age of Empires - Command to Conquer for iPhone ($0.99) and iPad ($1.99). I should note that this game appears to have no connection to the Age of Empires games of old, which were first released back in 1997. With the misleading name aside, this game doesn't seem to offer much compelling gameplay. The year is 2150. Humankind is nearly extinct. Two corporations, the Anti National Order and the Global Salvation, are fighting for control of our decaying planet. You play as the Global Salvation. Your mission is to prevent the ANO from taking over, and depleting the remaining resources of the planet. Age of Empires - Command to Conquer features six towers for your arsenal (turret, cannon, flame, radar, launcher, and spark), 15 types of enemies, and two different scenarios. You can get Age of Empires - Command to Conquer for iPhone ($0.99) and iPad ($1.99) in the App Store. The developer should have made this one universal app, or at least priced them the same. Just keep in mind that this isn't the Age of Empires you may be thinking of. Early reviewers don't seem very pleased with the game, but what do you think? Does this app ruin the Age of Empires name?
