Boneyard: Can You Clear The Board?
Boneyard - Slide. Spin. Win. ($0.99) by Rebel Drone, LLC is a refreshingly fun puzzle game that puts an exciting twist to the game of dominoes.
Whether you played them on your back porch with other family members or slammed them down during a jail sentence, dominoes brought people together. Friend or foe.
Slide. Spin. Win. The object of the game is to remove all of the domino tiles from the playing field, in the shortest amount of time possible. This is done by sliding and spinning dominoes to match up the ends of tiles with equal values. Seems easy right? You’re in for a challenge.
On the play screen, players are given the following information: How many tiles are left in the boneyard, current move count, elapsed game time, score, and the multiplier amount all overlying a well-suited wooden table backdrop.
Scoring: Players are awarded points equal to the number of pips (dots) on all of the removed domino pieces. The current multiplier will multiply that score by whatever the multiplier is at that moment the tiles are removed. For example, if the domino dots removed were 12, and the current multiplier was at 2x, you would receive 24 points. (12x2=24).
To raise the multiplier, players must score more tiles together. If three tiles are scored then the multiplier will raise to 3x, if four tiles are scored then the multiplier raises to 4x, and so on. Keep in mind, the multipliers will decay over time if you take too long in processing a move. Hurry!
During the game, players will be able to select from three power ups to use at their leisure. These power ups can either modify the dominoes on the playing field, or give an extra boost to a player's score.
Double Down (think of double or nothing in poker) will double the player's points received on their next scoring move.
In The Zone will double the rate in which your multiplier grows for a total of 30 seconds. While using this power up, your multiplier will not decay.
Clean Slate, which can only be used if the remaining domino tile count is more than eight, allows players to be dealt a whole new slab of dominoes to the playing field. Keep in mind, once you use this power up, it is gone for the remainder of the game. Yikes!
Players are also given the option to undo their last scoring move a few times during the current game. This is essential for people, like myself, who realize their mistakes after they have already made them!
Bonus points are given in two ways. If the player clears all the dominoes from the boneyard and/or the player clears all the dominoes in a timely fashion. Get those fingers moving!
If all of that isn’t enough being brought to the table, try playing with higher title sets (nine, 12, 15 and 18) for a tougher challenge and larger scoring potential.
Oh yeah, you can also invite a friend to play multiplier. Remember to not be a poor sport if you come out on the losing end. There is no need to flip the table and send the dominoes flying.
