Dark Meadow To Go Freemium This Week

Dark Meadow To Go Freemium This Week

March 12, 2012
Back in November, we reviewed the Unreal Engine powered horror adventure game, Dark Meadow. We absolutely loved it. It looked stunning, it had great gameplay and we even said this:
Dark Meadow ($5.99) by Phosphor Games Studio, LLC is a first person game that will suck you in from beginning to end.
If you happened to listen to us, and bought it, then one: you followed our, advice (thanks!). Two, you better backup your phone data, to save that version of the app as soon as possible. Yeah, pay attention to the latter because Phosphor Games will be making the game free this weekend. This new price change will also make Dark Meadow a freemium game. This can only mean one thing: lots of ads and useless in-game currency. While the guys at Joystiq claim previous owners will probably not get ads and are entitled to free goodies, like, say in-game cash at no cost, we don't understand why there is a need for an update like this at all. The game really does not need in-app purchases, and most of the skill involved in progressing in the game will be lost. Plus, given the price of the game, is it really worth spending even more? Sure, we loved it, but we don't want to surrender our wallets to it, right? Anyway, the update is not out yet, so before it does get released, we do recommend you sync your iDevice to your computer to save that IPA. For all we know, you may need it soon. We will keep you posted on the update and let you know if it is worthwhile when it comes out. Until then, let us know if you are willing to pay more to come out of this game's dark nightmare.   Source: TouchArcade
