Developer Upgrades App To Better Understand iPad 3 Retina Revolution

The iPad 3 will finally be official next week, and the new tablet's biggest selling point is sure to be its Retina-branded LCD display. Jumping from 132 pixels per inch (PPI) to a much denser 264, it's clear that content will look cleaner and sharper than ever before. Of course, taking advantage of such a jump will require a fair bit of work on the development side, and we've yet to see a decent representation of how the upgrade should actually play out. To that end, developer Kevin Ng decided to give his upcoming Food Run title a hypothetical resolution redo, converting his app's iPad 2-based artwork to what it might look like optimized for iPad 3. Here's the visceral takeaway (via AppleInsider): The difference is pretty clear, right? Yep, in just another week or so, the iPad 2's vibrant, celebrated IPS panel will be officially outdated.
