FRUIT_BOUNCE ($0.99) by Dr Goose Studios is a casual game that seems to be oriented at children, with simple, oversized graphics and uncomplicated gameplay. The app name is self explanatory - the goal is to bounce the fruit in the air and keep it from hitting the ground.

The game consists entirely of moving a paddle with your finger to bounce various fruits in the air, while quickly moving to avoid the bad fruits, which will negatively impact your score. Some fruits are more valuable than other fruits, so when given the choice between bouncing a strawberry and a watermelon, you will want to stick with the strawberry, which will rack up more points.

Every level has a time limit, so you must meet score goals within the time frame. This means being quick to bounce as much fruit as possible.

To progress through the levels, you will need to hit a target score, which increases every level, beginning with 3000. There are 35 levels across six stages, so as you might imagine, keeping the fruit bouncing becomes quite a challenge later in the game.

There is no penalty for dropping fruits, so the only element to avoid is the rotten fruit. This makes the game overly easy, even as the levels ramp up. There’s also little variation in gameplay, so this probably isn’t going to hold the attention of an adult player.

On the plus side, the oversized graphics and simple gameplay mean that it should be the perfect game for kids, but children will undoubtedly have trouble reaching the specified scores, which leaves me wondering who the developers had in mind when they developed this game.

To be honest, I am not comfortable recommending this game to anyone. The gameplay is too simplistic for adult players (there’s no variation at all - not even a power up) and too difficult for children. Unless you have a deep love of bouncing fruit, I’d spend that $0.99 on a better game.
