If You Can't Stand The Heat, Stay Out Of The Kitchen Challenge
KitchenChallenge ($0.99) by HighGame Product has you trying to cook food to perfection before it gets fed to a dog. Catch food from the cooks in your frying pan and cook it to the right temperature by bouncing it in and out of the pan.
You control the waitress by using the left and right buttons in the corners. The dog always follows by her side. A cook will be on each side, cutting up meat or baking bread. Either cook will toss a piece of food in the air. The goal is to catch the food with your frying pan and cook the food before feeding it to the dog.
Each time the food item hits the pan, it will cook a little and pop up in the air. You can tell how far along the food is cooking because it will start to become darker in color until it finally just falls apart. Not cooking the food enough won’t score you as many points, whereas overcooking it will result in a loss of points.
Completely missing the food will lose one of your three lives. The cooks will start tossing you extra lives, though that doesn’t happen until you score 200 points.
The game starts off slow, almost to a point of feeling idiotic. I’ll admit that I jumped into the game without looking at the directions, and I thought this was a game of keep-up-in-the-air. The food will consistently bounce up and down, even if you just stand still, so I was wondering where the challenge came in.
Reading the directions showed me the nuance behind the game.
However, gameplay goes into “Lucy Mode” once you start racking up points. The cooks will toss multiple foods, meaning you’ll need to do a good job of juggling the items between being cooked and fed to the dog without letting them drop.
This is a fun and challenging game, especially once the game starts ramping up in speed. I would definitely recommend this for any gamer looking to test his or her reflexes.
