Create Your Own Island In Pirate Town
Pirate Town (Free) by GameDream is a puzzle game in the same vein as Triple Town. If you haven’t heard of either of these, then you’re in for a treat.
The way the game works is that you start with an island that has a cloud floating above it. On the cloud will be a “building” (though they are mainly plants, such as bushes and trees).
Drag and drop a building anywhere on the screen (even over open water), and the island will shift to accommodate this new item.
Once a combo of buildings is made, they will merge together to form an upgrade of that building. So say, for example, you match three bushes together. They would form into a single tree. A tree combo will create a cabin.
Mixed in with the buildings are pirate ships. You’ll need to place them somewhere on the screen. Once placed, they will move across the water, robbing you of gold if they touch a real building. They also pose as an obstacle because you can’t build on top of them.
However, should the ships become landlocked, they will turn into a shipwreck. And a shipwreck combo becomes a dock, another building.
The game ends when there is no room left to place new buildings.
What’s interesting about this game is the lack of dying or opponents. Yes, the pirate ships show up, but they’re really not your adversary. A lack of real estate is really your main enemy. If you build up your island with nothing but shrubs and bushes, you won’t have any room for more advanced buildings.
Strategy is the best weapon you have to score as many points as possible. The real competition comes in seeing who has the better Game Center score.
Perhaps the biggest detraction from this game is the lack of a main menu, including a spot to view the tutorial again.
Puzzle fans will definitely want to give this game a shot. Fans of Triple Town might enjoy the change of scenery, and those unfamiliar with either game will be pleasantly surprised.
