Drive To Survive In Traffic Wonder HD
TrafficWonder HD ($0.99) by YoAmbulante has you trying to save gas by finding the quickest route possible. An overhead view shows the twisty roads, all capped off by a yellow, green, red, or blue building as an end destination.
Touch each of the respective cars to guide them to the buildings.
The gameplay is reminiscent of Flight Control, though this game provides more structure for where the vehicles can go (namely, sticking to the road).
You also have to “program” each car first to tell them where to go, and then they will all drive simultaneously.
This is different than Flight Control’s take-them-as-they-come-approach.
I guarantee you’ll find yourself mentally screaming “Don’t crash!” as your cars move on their own to their end destination.
A tutorial will help get your acquainted with the nuances of how to play, such as how the cars will slow down as they’re taking turns (stands to reason). Larger vehicles will also move slower and consume fuel quicker.
The name of the game is less fuel consumption. You will earn a higher score by using as little gas as possible. Plan your route to be as efficient as possible, or your car will run out of gas before it can even reach its destination.
This is truly an HD game with it’s smooth graphics. The App Store page seems to be contradictory about what devices can actually play it. The description notes that only iPads and Retina display devices (iPhone 4 and fourth gen iPodTouch), though the app requirements on the side note the iPhone 3GS and earlier iPod Touch models as being supported.
The one thing I didn’t like about this game was the annoying pulsing sound that plays when you determine each car’s path. Luckily, that can easily be fixed.
For those looking for a good challenge, look no further than this app. While it borrows from other games, it’s still a unique experience.
What’s even better is that you won’t need to spend any gas driving to a store to get it.
