Any Night's All Right For Fighting With Warheads Medieval Tales
Warheads Medieval Tales (Free) by Glu Distribution requires little effort from the user. Looks like the evil Sir Gui is at it again. Who is Sir Gui? What is he up to this time? Really, it doesn’t matter much.
All you need to know is that there is good old fashioned RPG action as you lead Sir Hugo and his band of warriors, hacking and slashing their way to victory.
Although, actually, only a little amount of leading is required of the player. During play, you select where you want the characters to walk, who they will fight, and what special abilities they will use, but everything else is automatic.
All of the fighting happens in real time, so there's no pausing to decide what move to do next.
The town offers different resources for modifying your party. You can pick up scoundrels for hire in the tavern, equip your characters in the barracks, and buy some goodies in the marketplace.
The two forms of currency are silver, which is awarded within the game, and an in-app purchase (surprise, surprise) of gold.
An interesting method of leveling up the characters is found in the "skill tree." A linear progression of skill upgrades is posted for each character, until their abilities fork in different directions.
Once your characters are ready to go, it’s time to set them on their way via the “conquest map.” It’s here that you’ll select the next battle to fight, as well as the difficulty level of it.
Obviously, it starts out on easy, though a bit of a learning curve comes into play once the difficulty starts inching up.
The animation looks like a Flash game that you might find online, but it works for the thematic style. Retina display is supported.
This is a fun game that is worth a shot for those who are into medieval RPGs. For free, there is little to complain.
