Quirky App Of The Day: Avoid Soap

When I hear about someone trying to avoid soap, I tend to think of teenagers and preteens. It seems like many of them go through a trying phase of being disinclined to shower. However, flies certainly also come to mind when thinking of creatures that don't like cleansers. In Avoid Soap, you are a little fly at the bottom of the screen, trying to flee from the oppressive harbingers of suds.
The falling oranges are what give you points. I'm a fan of oranges as well, so I can identify with the passion that this fly must have to continue pursuing these oranges. Despite the obvious life-threatening danger that soap poses to him, it doesn't match the boundless love this fly has for citrus fruit.
Control the fly by touching either side of the iDevice. The fly won't stop until it hits the edge of the screen, though. If you only want him to momentarily dodge a falling soap bar or dive after an orange, then you have to tap the side you want him to glide towards and touch the opposite side to keep him from going too far. Think of it as doing a little finger tap dance on your iDevice.
As the game progresses, the fruit and soap begin to fall faster and in greater numbers. That's all fine and well for the fruit that you're collecting, but more fruit also means more soap to avoid. There's a life meter in the upper left corner that measures how many more hits with soap you can take before death claims your fly. At first, I thought that soap killing a fly was just a little ridiculous. Then, I realized a bar of soap that was the same size as myself would probably kill me off too.
