Air Display Gets A Stunning Retina Update

Air Display Gets A Stunning Retina Update

April 3, 2012
Another day, another Retina ready update to a much loved iPad app. The latest update comes from Avatron Software. Avatron has recently released version 1.6 of their popular app Air Display. Version 1.6 of Air Display brings with it a very impressive feature. If you are running OS X Lion on a Mac, and have a new iPad, you can now activate "HiDPI mode." This mode is a standard, built-in feature of OS X that renders various UI elements at twice the resolution. This feature is disabled by default because there is no Mac display capable of such high resolutions, until now. The new iPad's Retina display is ready, and willing, to take full advantage of this feature. While I haven't yet had a chance to try this update, I'm hearing reports that everything works very smoothly and looks just stunning. Along with the the addition of full Retina graphics, the update also brings with it a few nice, much needed bug fixes. Some of these fixes include improvements in frame rates and quality. It also brings better support for the MacBook Pro with certain NVidia graphics cards. Have you tried out the new HiDPI mode for Air Display? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
