Budgeting App Toshl Finance Updated To Include Income Tracking
April 12, 2012
I've been using Toshl Finance to track my budget for over a year now, and I love it. My husband and I used to argue about who was spending how much on what, until we decided to set a budget that we would both be responsible for sticking to. We started on paper, but, you know, that requires a lot of math, adding up long columns of numbers. So, when I found the free app Toshl Finance, we decided to give it a shot. Originally, the app was intended for only one person to use, but I discussed with the developer how my husband and I needed to sync our spending, and they vastly improved the app's sync capabilities to allow this. I enter expenses on my iPhone, my husband enters his spending on his iPhone, and it all syncs up neatly. This is pretty much sufficient for us, but still, I'm excited that Toshl has released an update with lots of new features even for free users, namely income tracking and use of the website. So, here are the latest features, straight from the Toshl blog:
Incomes Finally! We've all been wanting this natural part of keeping personal finances for a long while and they're finally here. They work just like budgets enter the number, tap the tag. done! Multiple and repeating monthly incomes are only available to those with Toshl Pro, though. The Toshl monsters have to eat something... Add and edit for free on toshl.com It used to be available only to Toshl Pro users but now it's free for all! Manage your finances on the phone while you're out, do it with the comfort of a big screen and keyboard when you're home. Sum up Wouldn't it be great if you could just glance over your current financial state on one screen? That's exactly what Sum up is for, plus there's a cute monster to help you explain it all. Planned Expenses coming up in the future get a special treatment now and help you think ahead. All the repeating expenses are better marked too, so you'll never be confused when they'll be coming up. Rollover budgets You want to rollover the remaining budget funds into the next month? Budgets for all tags except the ones you don't want? Your wish is our command. My financial month & custom timespans When you get your paycheck is when your financial month starts. You tell us when that is and we'll adjust accordingly. If you want to see any date range in particular, no problem, set up a custom time span. So, what are you waiting for? Essentially all of the negatives I mentioned in my original review have been fixed. Toshl Finance is also available on a number of non-iOS platforms as well, so your significant other doesn't have to be on an iPhone to share. With the website now available even to free users, you and/or your significant other only need a computer, no smartphone necessary. You can see all the great features you get for free, but there are even more features available with a pro membership, which runs about $20/year. [gallery link="file"]
