Gabe Newell Says Apple CEO Tim Cook Never Met With Valve

April 20, 2012
About a week ago the rumor mill was in full force when we heard that Tim Cook was hanging out with the fine folks at Valve. Speculation was all over the place as we wondered what exactly was going on. Was Steam coming to iPad? Was Apple going to become more gaming focused? Was Apple going to buy Valve? Well, it turns out we were all wrong, because Tim Cook never even went to Valve, according to Kotaku. Apparently the guys over at Valve were speculating just as much as we where when they heard that Tim Cook was there. They were sending emails throughout the company asking each other if they were the one meeting with Tim. Gabe Newell said "We actually, we all sent mail to each other, going, Who's Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I'm not meeting with Tim Cook." Gabe said, flat-out, "No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day." However, Gabe Newell said he would love to meet with Tim Cook because they "have a long list of things we'd love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better." Not to get the rumor mill started all over again, but he did specifically say they did not meet with anyone from Apple that day. Does that imply they met with them on another day? Perhaps, but for now we can only assume that was just a slip of the tongue.
