Get Ready To Nerdgasm: Magic The Gathering Coming To iPad

April 6, 2012
Nerds of the world (myself included) rejoice! Magic: The Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 is coming to iPad. Wizards of the Coast just announced that the game is coming out. This comes as no surprise, considering how incredibly popular the previous versions of the game have been. Of course, I am excited to play a new and improved version, but when I noticed it was coming to iPad, I nearly jumped out of my chair. Duels of the Planeswalkers games on other platforms are incredibly well done, even if they strip most of the deck building components of MTG out of the game. They designed the game with an incredible balance of depth for hardcore Magic players and manage to keep it approachable enough for someone who has never experienced the joy of playing Magic: The Gathering. Wizards of the Coast say they are looking at a summer release for the game on the Xbox 360, PC, Playstation 3, and iPad. It is safe to assume that the game will play much like the previous versions, with cards from the Innistrad (the most recent set of cards) block included. They also revealed that you will be able to play Planechase multiplayer games, which coincides with the release of the Planechase decks in the real world. For hardcore Magic players, they added the option to manually tap your lands. This does not change the game at all, but gives it a more authentic experience. The last thing they revealed is the new final boss will be the one and only Nicol Bolas. For those brave souls who make it to the end, the dragon Planeswalker will be there to greet you with open arms. Just don't touch him in the wrong spot, I hear he's ticklish. Source: TouchArcade
