Gunman Clive, Wanted Dead Or Alive

April 3, 2012
Love them or hate them, retro graphics in apps and games are here to stay. From Hipstamatic's old school photography to 1-bit Ninja, retro is the place to be. At least that is what indie developer Bertil Horberg hopes, with the release of their new universal game,  Gunman Clive ($1.99). Bertil's first stab at platformer gaming, Helium Boy, was a surprisingly fun little title. Can Gunman Clive do as well? Gunman Clive is set in the wild west of early 19th century America. A land overrun by thugs and outlaws. Mayor Johnson's daughter has been kidnapped and its up to you, Gunman Clive, to kill the bandits and save the girl. It's a gaming cliché since Mario's first outing, but one that never gets old. The developer has released a nice, short trailer for Gunman Clive which is well worth watching: If you are having difficulties viewing the embedded video above, it is also available by clicking here. As you can see, Gunman Clive features some beautiful, retro graphics that really work for the setting of the game. Gunman Clive reminds me a lot of Sunset Riders for the SNES, which can only be a good thing in my book! The unique sketch shaded graphics, fun game play, and deviously difficult boss battles make Gunman Clive an impressive looking platformer. What are you waiting for? Grab your six shooter and saddle up!
