How To Unlock Your AT&T iPhone
April 9, 2012
AT&T is now allowing some of their customers to unlock their iPhones and move to a different carrier. The process, which is as simple as contacting AT&T, does have some limitations, however, according to Electronista.
In order to have your iPhone unlocked, you must provide AT&T with your handset’s IMEI. From there, it takes approximately 72 hours before your iPhone is unlocked.
However, the unlock process is only available for AT&T customers who are no longer on contract. In other words, if your iPhone is still covered by a two-year contract, you’re out of luck unless you want to pay a contract kill fee.
This means that iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 customers don’t qualify for the unlock without first paying AT&T’s exit fees.
