Draw Lines To Eliminate Your Enemies In EcoFish
EcoFish ($1.99) by Eclipse Games S.C. is a puzzle drawing game where the goal is to eliminate polluted areas of the ocean by drawing paths for your fish to follow, which removes them from the screen.
In each level, you will be instructed to remove a certain percentage of the screen, which must be done while avoiding enemies. This is a task that gets tougher as the screen gets smaller.
You start at an edge and must end at an edge, because edges are the safe zone where no enemies can attack your fish. You can cut out enemies by removing the section of ocean where they are located, and in fact, this will net you a higher score and a safer gaming field.
I used to play games that were very similar to EcoFish, where the goal was to draw off large portions of the screen, but it’s been quite some time since I’ve seen a game that uses the mechanic, so EcoFish was a fun surprise.
EcoFish is actually quite challenging, because if the wicked sea creatures hit the fish or the line that you are drawing, you will lose a life. It takes quite a bit of skill to finish levels, and the game turned out to be a lot more engrossing than I had expected.
The levels get increasingly difficult as the game progresses and new enemies are introduced. You start out with sea urchins, which move in a pattern, but other enemies, like jellyfish, are more unpredictable.
Some levels will have set goals, where you will need to kill a certain enemy to progress, which breaks up the monotony of having levels that are too similar. There are also blocks and barriers that you must navigate to complete levels.
Every time you finish a level, you will be rewarded with coins. Coins can be used to purchase items to decorate your fish and new fish to play with. There are 90 levels to complete, three game modes, and Game Center leaderboards and achievements.
The graphics in this game aren’t great, in fact, they’re pixellated and a bit blurry on the new iPad, but the gameplay is fun enough to make up for this deficit. If you’re looking for a fun casual puzzle game to play and don’t mind less than fantastic graphics, this is a great title to pick up.
