Get Behind The Mask In Marvel's The Avengers: Iron Man - Mark VII
MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS: IRON MAN – MARK VII (Free) by Loud Crow Interactive Inc. gives you a glimpse into Tony Stark’s thoughts of each of his Iron Man creations. Part snippets of the movie and part new content, this story is sure to please any Iron Man fan.
This app really shows off how comics on an iDevice can be done (and of course, it is Retina supported).
Each “page” can feature multiple actions, which reveal as you swipe forward. A transparent bar on the side of the screen indicates when you’re moving on to a new page. There are over 15 pages total.
There’s hardly any part of this app that isn’t interactive in some way. Whether you’re suiting up Stark in his Mark II suit, assembling his Mark V in its briefcase carry mode, or using the Mark I's flamethrower, the app throws you into the story.
Narration is available as well, though by default it is turned off. Even with the narration off, you can still tap the words within the word balloons to hear them (as a side note, you can also have loads of fun just messing around by creating new sentences with the words).
The best part in the story is without question when he and War Machine battle the Hammer Drones. Charge up Iron Man to fire his “turn and burn” laser system. Bye bye, drones!
What would make this app even cooler is if they actually had Robert Downey Jr. perform the voice overs. While this isn’t so, the dialogue also does little justice to the story.
There are several parts where you just know Downey’s Stark would have had something much better to say than what the app’s version says.
The whole build up for this story is to lead to a plug for the Avengers movie this summer. Inspired by a magnetic bracelet he receives, Stark reveals that he has a new idea for a suit, but he leaves it a mystery.
