Quirky App Of The Day: Morse Tap

We've come a long way with technology in the past 20 years. My parents remember laughing at the old Star Trek communicators before cell phones were up and running. We no longer need Morse code to communicate at great distances. It used to be the most efficient manner to get out a message that would take days or weeks through mail. For those with nostalgia issues, there is Morse Tap.
If we want to talk to someone, we click a few buttons and talk to them directly. This would predictably render Morse code obsolete for most communication needs. I say most because I'm not entirely sure is Morse code is no longer in use. However, I'm sure there are some people out there who memorized the Morse code alphabet for kicks and giggles. For them, Morse Tap will allow them some privacy in their texts. Just use the dash and dot buttons to type out your message. Once you're done, you can send it to whoever you want using SMS, email, or Twitter. Although, unless your friends also understand Morse code, there's really no point.
While this app is completely lost on me, I'm sure some friends would enjoy privacy in their texts and emails. Typing in Morse code would definitely add some privacy. For those who don't know how to type in Morse code, never fear. Help is here. Under the "help" button, there's a list of the letters and their code. When you begin typing on the screen, the app goes through possible letters that you might be typing. It'll show the code on the screen while you type. The list also includes how to tell the difference between a space between code and an actual space. I always wondered how people could tell the difference between the code if it was all mashed together. Now, I know.
