Relive Your Youth With Saturday Morning RPG
April 5, 2012
I am an '80s child, and proud of it. One of my fondest memories growing up in the '80s involved early Saturday mornings watching some fantastic cartoons. Today sees the release of a title that promises to reignite those happy memories.
Developer Joystick Labs has released Saturday Morning RPG (FREE), and it looks like a beauty. Saturday Morning RPG is the result of yet another successful Kickstarter project, having received pledges totalling $10,361 in March. So what is Saturday Morning RPG? Perhaps the developer can explain it best:

Saturday Morning RPG sees you take control of Martin 'Marty' Michael Hall ('80s reference overdose right off the bat). Marty is an "... average high school student who has been gifted a powerful ability to channel magic through everyday objects."
Saturday Morning RPG is an episodic title, with the first episode being available as a free download. Future episodes will be available at $1.99. The second episode is already available as an in-app purchase.
Saturday Morning RPG really ramps up the nostalgia factor to great effect. With a Japanese RPG style and great retro graphics it's a real treat.
While the episodes in Saturday Morning RPG are stand-alone entities, your character progress does follow you between them, which is a very nice extra.
All in all, Saturday Morning RPG looks to be a unique and ambitious game. The in-app purchase price for new episodes seems a little steep, though only time will tell if they prove to be worth it.
What are your thoughts on Saturday Morning RPG? Would you prefer to pay a larger initial price for the game to avoid in-app purchases?
