Users Reporting Issues With The iPad's 3G Connection

April 6, 2012
There is an ever growing contingent of users on the Apple Support Forums who are reporting issues with their new iPad having some serious problems keeping a strong connection on 3G, as pointed out by AppleInsider. The general consensus is that the LTE capable device loses its connection and will not re-establish one until the device is given a hard reset. It seems that most of the people having issues are international users trying to connect to 3G in areas where 4G LTE is not available. The issue seems to only happen with the new model iPads. With older models where 3G was the only option, there was no issue. This leads me to believe that the device is trying to find a 4G LTE connection, and when it is unable to, it loses its connection altogether. The countries where most of the users are having issues are Austria, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Spain, and Italy. There are a few users from the United States jumping into the fray that are experiencing the issue as well. Individuals living in major metropolitan areas will probably never face this problem, but for users living in more rural locations where you could fall into extended coverage, it could be a serious issue. With the high prices carriers charge for data, it is very reasonable for these people to be upset. At this point, there is no permanent solution. If your coverage drops, you need to restart your device. Some users are reporting having to do this up to four or five times a day, which is obviously a frustrating way to use your shiny new iPad.
