Cure John ($0.99) by Appsolute Studios is an interesting game with a simple style of gameplay. It is a side-scrolling, two-dimensional treat like in the olden days of smashing buttons at the local arcade. So, let’s jump into what makes this game so unique – its storyline.
John’s body structure is thin and weak. He is ill, very ill. John needs to be cured from his many viruses and this is where you step in to help. You take over as one of John’s white blood cells to help fight off his illnesses. You’re not just any ordinary blood cell though; you’re a superhero blood cell sporting a white suit and a red cape.
So, what type of super power does this blood cell have exactly? Well, while he is swimming through John’s bloodstream and organs, he can fire blue lasers and cast a giant laser wall to destroy terrible illnesses.
Yeah, he’s kind of a big deal.
In your effort to fight off John’s illnesses, you drag the superhero blood cell around. He will shoot his automatic lasers, and destroys any floating viruses that try to get past him. This is definitely easier said than done. For each virus that manages to penetrate the superhero’s defense, you will lose a life. The game ends when you lose all your lives or when you reach the final destination point.
There are three chapters that have three levels in each. You will encounter new and tougher viruses throughout your quest in curing John. Watch for the thermometer gauge at the bottom of the screen to fill up, then double-tap anywhere to send a giant blast destroying multiple viruses at once! Use this sparingly because you will run out if it's used too often.
