YourPuzzle Offers Customized Puzzles, Challenges
YourPuzzle ($1.99) by Andrea Barbon gives you a new, personalized puzzle whenever you’re in the mood for a challenge.
Solving a real 400 piece puzzle can certainly be a challenge, though it’s static: it will be the same that time and any other time afterwards. The challenge will diminish with each successful completion of it.
But what’s so great about this puzzle app is that you can customize it to meet your needs.
Instead of stock photos you can select any picture from your photo albums or even just take a picture on the fly.
Although if you want stock photos, some are included. Each has dynamic composition and vivid colors.
The gameplay is so intuitive that the developer doesn’t even include any help or tutorials. Select your photo and then how many pieces you’d like it to have (400 is the maximum).
Drag the pieces from the sidebar onto the grid and place them where you think they go.
You’ll need to rotate the pieces, as they don’t start in the right orientation in the sidebar. Either use the two finger gesture to rotate, or tap the picture to rotate it.
I found using the rotate gesture rather difficult, since it takes a fine touch to do it without making the whole puzzle board move in and out. You may also want to stick to tapping the pieces because they become smaller and harder to rotate with the higher level puzzles.
Once you’re done, you’re given statistics like how long you took to solve it, how many moves and rotations you used, as well as your final score.
This game is a definite must have for any puzzle fans. Change the difficulty and swap out the pictures to solve to match your puzzle solving mood for the day.
And perhaps the best part of all is that your cat can’t knock the pieces onto the floor.
