AppAdvice App Of The Week For June 15, 2012
Every week, our staff will handpick an app from the past seven days that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These apps will always be from various categories, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and have been using them daily. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy!
Reeder for iPhoneWhile most say that RSS is dead, Reeder certainly keeps it alive. Reeder originally came out in 2009, but it received a significant update this week that makes it worthy of being our App of the Week.
Reeder 3.0 features a significant new interface that provides a cleaner look when reading your RSS feeds. Plus, if you were not a fan of Google Reader, now you have the option of using Fever or Readability with Reeder. Multiple accounts for Google Reader and Fever are also supported, which means you can keep tabs on all of your accounts at once.
Feed management is now included in Reeder, so users are able to add and edit existing feeds. Editing means you can unsubscribe or move it to another folder or tag. Previously, the only way to manage your feeds was to use the Google Reader web interface, so this is certainly a welcome addition.
The article reader is even better now, with a more polished appearance. If you wanted to customize the size of the text and line height, now you can. Readability is integrated for the built-in mobilizer, if you would prefer to read that way as well.
The update also brings in more gestures for navigating throughout the app, and even customizable swipe gestures for your favorite actions. Reeder also has a new two-finger swipe down or up on the article list to Mark All Read above or below that point.
Other changes to the app’s appearance are also welcome, such as the new share panel, custom dialogue boxes, and the new icon. Settings for Reeder are now accessible from within the app, so you don’t have to go to the device Settings anymore to change options. And finally, two more sharing services have been added: QUOTE.fm and Buffer.
Reeder has been a staff favorite around here at AppAdvice, and we are definitely pleased with the new features and changes in this huge update. Give it a try yourself — you won’t regret it.

Honorable Mention Swipe MagazineHave you ever wanted a magazine app that is specifically tailored for your iOS needs? Then look no further than Swipe Magazine, which is our runner-up this week.
With Swipe, you get an experience that is built from the ground up. The content is focused on only the best that the App Store has to offer, so it’s a perfect fit for anyone with an iPad (an iPhone version is in the works).
You’ll get great information on the best games, apps, and accessories for your iOS devices, as rated by the team behind Swipe. The magazine just debuted, so there is only one issue, but it has articles featuring Rovio’s follow up to Angry Birds, interviews, Where’s My Water? tips and walkthroughs, and much more.
This is something that should be on every iPad, so definitely give it a look — it’s free, so you have nothing to lose.
