Bird Jumper Jumps Into App Store, Somehow Manages To Stand Out
June 5, 2012
Bird Jumper, another entry in the App Store's endless jump genre, is the newest title to make addictive, simple use of one-tap, touchscreen control. Unlike similar releases, though, your goal here isn't height. Instead, the game's young protagonist rides his balloon into the sky, and -- after it pops -- flips and bounces off his feathered friends to stay safely aloft.
To make him do this, all you've got to do is time your taps. As soon as you touch your iPhone's screen, the little guy does a Mario-esque butt stomp and rockets downward. If your aim is good, there'll be a bird there to meet him upon which he can spring back skywards. Do this enough times, and you'll get through to the next level. Collect extra balloons for extra lives, clocks to slow the action down, and other pickups to earn various achievements.
Developed by Spool, Bird Jumper's graphics are sharp, basic, and easy on the eyes, and the heavy use of silhouette is complemented by a fittingly moody soundtrack -- Could you really expect anything less from the makers of BeatForge?
Download Bird Jumper for free on the App Store, and soar with the eagles!
Or, you know, plummet to your death.
