MagSkin Accessory A Simple Solution To Lost iPhones, Cluttered Workspaces
June 28, 2012
The MagSkin is exactly the kind of Kickstarter project I love to back. It's simple, versatile, and promises not to be a letdown after the campaign ends and the product makes it to market. With an idea like this, there's literally nothing to screw up -- and that's a very good thing.
The MagSkin -- invented, developed, and designed by Daniel Weyer of Lincoln, Nebraska -- is a thin, magnetic backing that fits over the iPhone 4/S to give it a literal leg up for mounting just about anywhere around the house, office, or auto. Have the perfect place to stick your iPhone but it's not made of magnet-friendly metal? Don't worry about it! Every MagSkin comes with a pair of MagDocks, which adhere to said uncooperative surfaces with a gunk-free, clean, adhesive backing.
In fact, I've been using prototype versions of both products for a few days now, and there's just something very satisfying about slapping my iPhone on the fridge while I'm in the kitchen cooking and tossing it onto the file cabinet when I'm getting down to business. I even mounted the MagDock to the wall next to my bed (no nightstand, folks!) to keep an eye out for any nighttime emergencies.
There's no doubt that the MagSkin is functional and convenient. But it's also pretty fashionable, available in a variety of colors and textures, including the newly-announced (and very '90s) heat-sensitive model. Take a look at the gallery below to see what all's available, and head over to the MagSkin's Kickstarter page for more information.
If you pledge right now, the MagSkin can be had for as little as $10 to $12. But, with a standard price tag of just $15, it's still an attractive deal even if you miss out on the remaining early bird specials.
