Doodle Fit 2: Around the World ($0.99) by Namco Networks America Inc. Games is the universal sequel to the popular puzzle game of the same name. This brainteaser is a great way to give your sluggish mind some much needed exercise without making you learn boring facts.
The game is a digital tangram based on fitting blocks together to create shapes. Players are give a set of blocks that have different dimensions and must fit them into a particular, pre-made shape. For example, there may be five blocks that must fit perfectly into the shape of a rectangle. It may sound easy, but these puzzles can be very challenging.
In this sequel, players travel around the globe, solving tangrams. The puzzles have shapes that represent the country they are in. For example, in the U.S. there is a puzzle shaped like the Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, and the American flag. Each country has its own set of puzzles. There are 10 different countries to unlock.
Players can compete against friends through Game Center or Open Feint in multiplayer mode. You can either play against someone you know in the private session, or join up with a stranger for a quick game.
In the Community section, players can create their own level to share with others. Visit the level creator and start drawing on the grid. Once you’ve created a shape you like, you can rename it, save it, and share it with the rest of the Open Feint community. You can also play others’ tangrams for the ultimate challenge. To be frank, so far no one has published a decent or realistic puzzle to the Community section so far. I’d love to see some experienced puzzlers get in there and make some decent shapes.
This game is simply fantastic. There are 200 puzzles, many with multiple solutions. There are even more ways to play by checking out the Community section and playing a user-created tangram. Fans of the classic dissection puzzle game will really enjoy this app.
