Jump Dewds! (Free) by Graveck is a survival game where you must jump for you life and collect coins to unlock new dewds. Don’t let the coins hit the ground though. They will bust up your platform and leave you to sink in the lava below.
This objective-based survival game puts you in control of a cute little square monster who must grab coins that are spewing from a nearby volcano lest they destroy the ground he stands on. To collect the falling cash, tilt your device left to right and tap the screen to make him jump.
There are 17 different “dewds” to unlock and each one has its own special ability. For example, Crystal can perform a triple jump to get higher off the ground and Nepp floats inside a bubble to make it easier to keep him from falling into the lava pit. Dewds cost coins, and can get pretty expensive. The mysterious “D.E.W.D. 2.0” is a whopping 50,000 coins.
Players can also connect through Game Center and compete against friends in Dewd Vs. Dewd mode.
There are also six different levels that can be unlocked by using coins. These can also be pricey. However, you can reduce the cost of unlocking a level by completing all of the objectives on a previous level.
The objectives keep you interested in replaying the same level over and over again. The first level has eight objectives, like collect 100 coins or wall jump five times in one game. Most of them can easily be completed with enough patience. However, there are a couple of objectives that are based more on what the game offers and less on how well you can play the game.
For example, on the first level, on objective is to grab three different power ups. You can only grab what the game drops, and I never saw more than two different power ups the entire time, making it practically impossible to complete the first level, thus reducing the cost to unlock the second.
You can get extra coins through in-app purchases, which is why I think some of the objectives are harder to get than others. Impatient people may just give in and buy more coins instead of trying to earn them.
This is a very exciting and challenging game that will generate hours of fun for anyone who likes a straightforward arcade challenge. It is free to download, but you can remove the ads for only $0.99. The art is cute and the gameplay is smooth and easy to learn.
