Win A Copy Of Addicting Puzzle Game Squarescape

June 28, 2012

Squarescape ($0.99) by Jacob Koch uses such simple graphics to give you such a great challenge. The goal is simple: slide the empty square around the level until it snatches a circle.

With circle in hand, book the square toward the exit. However, that may be easier said than done.

Swipe the square in any direction to move it. Without brakes, it will keep sliding until it hits something. Only once it has stopped can you send it in a new direction.

Your first goal is to get the circle. You won’t be able to exit the level without it. The second goal is to carry the circle with you to the door.

Different obstacles are introduced along the way. Your first nemesis is an X. Land the square on it, and it’s back to the beginning. There aren’t any lives, so you’re not limited to how many tries you’d like to try.

The game starts you off with a tutorial for how to move and what to observe about the level’s different elements. Each of the levels progressively becomes more difficult, making it easy to acclimate to the gameplay.

Even the menu takes advantage of the game’s control. Sliding to the left will take you into a room for selecting options, to the right brings up your statistics, and up serves as your level select.

This is a game that will definitely keep your mind sharp. Its 8-bit graphics and chipset music definitely harken back to ye olden days of gaming. So I guess that begs the question, “Would you like to win a copy?”
