How To Fix Amazon’s Instant Video Error On A Jailbroken iPad

August 2, 2012
Amazon has released their new Instant Video app that brings a wide variety of streaming movies and TV shows to the iPad. Recently it was discovered that the new app won’t work on a jailbroken iPad. According to The Verge:
It's not immediately clear what in the jailbreaking process interferes with the Instant Video app or vice versa, although the presence of either the APT encryption key manager or the Cydia app store appears to be a factor. But it's not at all uncommon for device jailbreaks to break streaming video, usually because of incompatibility with the video's DRM.
If this is a problem you’re currently facing, there’s a quick fix that will allow the Instant Video app to work properly on your jailbroken device. In order to fix the error, download xCon from the Cydia Store on your jailbroken iPad. This Cydia tweak should solve the error message you’ve been receiving. Once you’ve installed the tweak, your Instant Video app should be error free. Users have reported receiving this error when attempting to playback video on a jailbroken iPad in the Instant Video app. I’ve confirmed the success of this fix and haven’t had any issues since installing xCon. The xCon tweak will allow any apps with jailbreak restrictions to run on a jailbroken device. You can download this tweak for free in the Cydia Store.
