Russia Could Become Next Country To Host An Apple Retail Store

August 21, 2012
At last count, Apple has retail stores in 13 nations. Russia isn’t one of them. However, that could soon change, according to Russia’s Kommersant. According to the report, Apple representatives visited Moscow last year to look for locations for their first retail store location in the ninth most populous nation. Additionally, the Cupertino company could soon begin distributing their products in Russia thanks to the creation of a new distribution arm, Apple Rus. Since 1996, Apple has used distribution partners to handle their product shipments in the country. Although no official announcement has been made, Apple is most likely to open a retail store in, or around Moscow, and St. Petersburg. At the earliest, Russia's first Apple retail store would open in 2013. Apple currently runs 373 retail stores around the world, including ones in the United States (250), the United Kingdom (33), Canada (25), Australia (14), France (11), Italy (10), Germany (8), Japan (7), Spain (7), China (5), Switzerland (3), Hong Kong (1), and Netherlands (1).
